Program Structure
Cohort Model
Participants work in collaborative teams on real AgriTech engagements:- Team Alaotra: Strong persona empathy and SMS flow design
- Team Betsiboka: Cooperative dashboards and Figma design systems
- Team Canal+: Storytelling with SDG metrics alignment
Weekly Schedule
Each session follows a structured agenda combining theory, practice, and feedback:Kickoff & Context Briefing
Mentor-led session introducing the design sprint challenge, stakeholder context, and success metrics
Insight Synthesis Breakout
Teams analyze research digests, persona profiles, and user journey maps using collaborative tools (Miro, Notion)
Concept Prioritization Workshop
Facilitated sessions to score concepts on impact/feasibility matrices and select MVP features
UX Flow Sketching
Hands-on Figma and FigJam sessions to design alert flows, dashboards, and offline fallback screens
No-Code Component Mapping
Build prototypes in FlutterFlow/Bubble sandboxes with real data schemas and automation workflows
Capstone Project: Smart Irrigation Companion
The 2026 cohort capstone focuses on a production deployment for FOFIFA Agritech Lab serving 800 rice farmers in Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar.Project Scope
- Problem: Farmers lack timely irrigation guidance, causing water waste and yield loss
- Solution: Bilingual mobile/web app with predictive watering alerts, cooperative scheduling, and impact analytics
- Timeline: 14-week pilot with €35k budget
- Stakeholders: FOFIFA leadership, cooperative champions, MeteoMada data partners
Key Deliverables
Research & Personas
Field interview synthesis, farmer personas (e.g., Voahirana the Irrigation Manager), and journey maps
Design System
Bilingual Figma components with offline states, high-contrast tokens for outdoor use, and SMS fallback designs
No-Code MVP
FlutterFlow mobile app + Bubble admin dashboard with Twilio SMS integration and Supabase backend
Impact Metrics
Target: 15% yield increase, 20% water savings, 70% weekly active users, NPS ≥35
Assessment & Certification
Participants are evaluated across four core criteria:| Criteria | Beginner | Proficient | Expert |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insight-to-Concept Alignment | Lists ideas without evidence | Connects concepts to insights with basic rationale | Demonstrates strong evidence mapping, handles tradeoffs |
| UX Flow Quality | Linear screens, missing edge cases | Covers main flow with some edge handling | Delivers inclusive, offline-aware flow with micro-interactions |
| No-Code Feasibility | Generic description | Basic component mapping | Detailed component + data mapping with automation plan |
| Communication | Single language, limited clarity | Mostly clear bilingual updates | Polished bilingual storytelling, ties to metrics |
Certification Requirements
- Complete all 14 weekly design sprints
- Pass capstone project field validation with cooperative champions
- Achieve minimum satisfaction score: ≥4.2/5 in bootcamp feedback
